Hi, I’m Jonathan Hodge, an actor, director and producer currently based in Macao SAR.
I was born in Greymouth in New Zealand’s South Island and spent most of my youth in Motueka, gateway to some of the country’s most beautiful parks and beaches. I moved to Christchurch to go to Canterbury University where I studied and received a Bachelor of Science with a Major in Operations Research. Later I moved to Auckland to study Acting under Murray Hutchinson, Linda Cartwright, Michelle Hine and Raymond Hawthorne at Unitec.
I’ve been working professionally on and off stage since 2005 years and have appeared on stage in various New Zealand productions for Auckland Theatre Company, Silo and Fortune Theatre among others. I was a founding member of Catalyst Theatre Company and contributed as an actor and playwright. Catalyst has produced two of my plays, Heroes and Slow Train.
I also produced all six of Catalyst Theatre’s plays since 2008 and ran the Short+Sweet Auckland festival between 2010 & 2013. More recently I worked for NZ Opera (the national company of New Zealand) for 3 years as the Company Manager and I am currently working in at The House of Dancing Water as the Artistic Manager.
I’m a huge fan of mountain biking, travel and the outdoors. I’ve been all over the place and currently live in Asia, spending most of my time in Hong Kong and Macao for work.
